When using Internet Explorer, you may experience problems when attempting to export a CSV file or KML file. A browser window will open and then immediately close. Sometimes a beep will be heard. This behavior is caused by IE's default pop-up blocker and Internet Security settings, which must be changed for use with PALMS:

Pop-up Blocker Settings

  1. Click on the Tools menu.
  2. Move the cursor to Pop-up Blocker
  3. If you see the phrase "Turn on Pop-up Blocker", then your IE blocker is turned off. Proceed to the Internet Security Settings.
  4. If you see the phrase "Pop-up Blocker Settings", then your IE blocker is turned on. Click on the Settings.
  5. In the text box "Address of website to allow" enter palms.ucsd.edu and click the Add button.
  6. Click the Close button.

NOTE: You may have another pop-up blocker installed by Google, Yahoo, or some other 3rd party software. If so, follow their instructions for turning off the blocker when using PALMS.
